A planned gift is a contribution that is arranged in the present and allocated at a future date.
Commonly donated through a will or a life insurance policy.
Making a bequest (Cash or Securities) to Food4Kids Guelph in your will is a simple way of leaving a legacy, small or large, that has no financial impact on your current financial situation.
Adding a codicil or preparing a will need not be difficult or expensive. Your estate will receive the tax benefit of a donation receipt for the full value of your bequest.
By taking out a new life insurance policy, and naming Food4Kids Guelph as owner and beneficiary, you will receive tax receipts for the annual premiums you pay.

Q. DOES A CHARITABLE BEQUEST PROVIDE A TAX BENEFIT?
Yes. The donor’s estate is entitled to a donation receipt for the full value of the bequest, providing significant tax credit on the estate’s final tax return.
Q. WHAT ARE THE WAYS TO MAKE A BEQUEST TO FOOD4KIDS GUELPH?
You can gift a specific dollar amount or property (e.g. “I give to Food4Kids Guelph the sum of $10,000 or a specific piece of property or 500 shares of ABC stock”).
Or you can gift all or a portion of whatever remains of your estate after all debts, taxes, expenses and any other bequests have been paid: “I give 10 percent (10%) of the residue of my estate to Food4Kids Guelph to be used at their discretion.”
Q. WHAT ARE THE WAYS TO GIVE LIFE INSURANCE?
You can retain ownership of the policy and designate Food4Kids Guelph to receive all or a fraction of the death proceeds. Or you can transfer ownership of a new or existing policy irrevocably to the Food4Kids Guelph Charity.
