1. Volunteers for Packing Bags

We need teams of 6 people to pack food bags from 11:00am-12:30pm every Thursday during the school year.  When schools are closed on a Friday, the packing takes place on Wednesday evening of that week, from 5:00pm-6:30pm.

2.  Placing Garbage Bins for Collection:

We need a volunteer to go to the Food4Kids Guelph location every Sunday and wheel the regular residential blue (or grey) and green garbage bins to the curb ready for collection, then return on Monday afternoon to wheel the bins back to their storage area. 

3.  Drivers for School Deliveries

Every Friday morning during the school year, volunteer drivers collect small bins containing food bags from the Food4Kids Guelph location and deliver them to local schools between 9:00am and 10:00am. They collect the empty bins from the previous week's delivery and return them to Food4Kids Guelph. (Please note: school drivers need a valid police check.)

4. Core Team

The Core Team comprises experienced Food4Kids Guelph volunteers who manage the packing and delivery operations every week.  These roles include hosting and supervising volunteers, food selection, food bag labelling, food inventory management and general administration. 


Everyone loves to help out and our packing shifts fill up quickly. However, there are MANY behind-the-scenes tasks we need help with:

  • Bookkeeping using QuickBooks

  • Fundraising and/or event management

  • Helping with database management (Filemaker)

  • Helping with website maintenance (WIX)

  • Writing quarterly newsletters (need printer)

  • Writing grant applications (need printer)

  • Public speaking

  • Preparing Powerpoint presentations

  • Running Lunch-and-Learns 

  • Helping with menu planning (nutrition expertise)

  • Shopping

  • Researching and providing summaries 

  • Running errands - as needed (need car)
